Let the game idle at the title screen and loop through the demos for like 20 minutes or so.

I can also reliably reproduce a crash after escaping from the rolling stone head. It seems like the cause is related to scene or area loading, but moreso by how long the game has been running.Īny value I tried that didn't just blackscreen during the into (zoom in on the palace) or at the top of Spiral Tower after dropping the bell, I end up with a crash not long after the Steam Knight boss, like you, when loading into the village. The values I mention are what you would see in the select+triangle emulator menu. I spent a few hours trying several different clock speeds, ranging between 50 to 84, and I can't find a fix for the crashing. Just the issue with the black screens at specific points in-game. But I don't recall anyone mentioning the game booting them back to the carousel, either.

So who knows? On top of the clock speed, Musashi may also be one of those games that's temperamental about how it's named. That said, I did see a couple people claim they'd played the game from beginning to end without issue. No real reason, just got swept up in Mega Man Legends. I'd played from the beginning of the game with the clock speed set to 85 without issue up until that happened. I'd gone through the cutscenes, been shown my room, messed around at the library for a minute, then the game booted me back to the UI when I returned to town. That was not long after beating the Steam Knight boss. No more black screens after I set the clock speed to 85 in the triangle+select menu, but that's when the game just up and quit to the carousel and I got the error message. Later on, got another black screen ascending to the roof of spiral tower. Well, first time, I got a black screen right after the opening cutscene transitions from "Alucaneet Palace" - same as everyone else. Non-hexadecimal, triangle+select friendly answers only, please and thank you. Then I see someone else posting that, no, in fact, you should be setting the clock speed to either 50 or 70. Right up until the whole game shat the bed, quit back to the carousel, and gave me an error message. Ok, fine.Īnd that did result in no additional black screens. If you're using the triangle+select menu, then that 55 = 85. Later on, I read that, no, 55 is for the PCSX config file. So, at first, I thought I had to lower the clock speed via the triangle+select menu to 55. And it's not helped by the fact that PCSX config files - which is what a lot of early discussion is centered around - are dealing in hexadecimal numbers.

I know that in order to avoid crashes, the game's clock speed needs to be changed, but the thing is those numbers are all over the place. So I've been trying to get Brave Fencer Musashi working properly, as I'd like to add it to the permanent rotation on the PlayStation Classic's internal storage. u/Newbornfromhell's 20 in 1 Theme Pack for Autobleem, rehosted by /u/jmwilkes76!
